Southern states wanted to nullify The tariffs because they were heavily dependent on slave trading and slaves for unpaid labor
As a result of the more powerful northern states not wanting to nullify the tariffs the wanted to secede from the Union to form Confederacy.
I do not think they should have done this because the states were young and not ready for a rebellious action by it's own citizens.

Definition: An agricultural production grown specifically for sale or export to generate profit. Not to be used or consumed by the farmers
How abolitionists were an extension of the church.
They were an extension because they added their congressmen to the unjust and inhumane system and asked for it to be abolished.
How they were treated.
An enslaved person had no legal rights, could not vote, and could not leave the institution that they had been born into unless freed by their owner. They had little food and shelter, and could be punished with their food or shelter to be taken away.

The reason there were four candidates in the election was to better discuss the problems of slaves into the Northern states.
The civil war could not have been completely avoided do to America being a free country and slavery ultimately ending for all countries close soon after.

The Fugitive Slave act.
A Law to help people catch their runaway slaves. Whoever didn't help would have to serve at least 6 months In prison or they could get a $1000 fine.
