King Midas, a wealthy but greedy king, wished that everything he touched would turn to gold, a gift granted by Dionysus. While initially thrilled, Midas soon realized the curse when his food, water, and eventually his daughter transformed into solid gold. Desperate, he washed in the river Pactolus, reversing the curse and learning that love and human connection are more valuable than riches.
