Portrait becomes important for Dorian > satisfy his desire to stay young and beautiful forever
The portrait changes showing the effect of time and moral corruption of Dorian
BASIL HOLLWARD paints his portrait
Dorian is influenced by Lord Henry Wotton's edonism
Tells the story of DORIAN GRAY: he is young and beautiful
So Dorian becomes selfish and he hurts people
Story set in LONDON
So, when Basil discovers the secret of the portrait Dorian kills him
At the end, Dorian destroys the portrait > it represents his guilty conscience
He stabs the painting and he kills himself > but portrait returns to its original beauty and Dorian becomes ugly/old
