- - - - Design cooperative learning blocks where students use high-level verbs to critique each other's ideas. Prompt them to actively compare, assess, or draw conclusions during group conversations rather than merely obtaining facts.
    - - Give thoughtful wait times. Teachers are required to strictly enforce a 5- to 10-second silent time before introducing complicated, higher-order enquiries. This stops impulsive reactions and provides all students with the cognitive space they need to organise and understand their ideas.
  - - - At the conclusion of a task, incorporate organised reflection tools (such as collaborative digital idea maps or explicit "thinking journals"). Ask pupils to clearly outline the actions they followed to address a problem.
    - - Pay more attention to the process than the product. When evaluating student performance, make sure the grading rubrics place more emphasis on the validity of the student's reasoning and method of obtaining evidence than they do on whether or not they came up with the "correct" or standard response.
