Leadership Learning
Chapter 1: Leadership
Leadership is not just being in charge
I used to think leadership meant being the person who tells others what to do and stays in control. after this class i see it more as people working together to reach a goal. it is less about power and more about how people interact and support each other.
Anyone can be a leader
before this i thought leadership was only for certain people who were confident or had a position. now i understand that anyone can take part in leadership. even small actions like helping someone or stepping up in a moment can be leadership.
Leaders and followers both matter
i learned that leadership is not just one person doing everything. sometimes you lead and sometimes you follow. both roles are important and they depend on the situation. this made me see leadership as more flexible.
Leadership is not always loud
i always thought leaders had to be outgoing and talk a lot. now i see that leadership can be quiet. someone can lead by listening, helping, or staying calm when things go wrong. this made leadership feel more realistic to me.
My view of leadership changed
overall my idea of leadership changed a lot. i used to think it was something people are born with but now i think it is something you build over time through experience and effort.
Chapter 2: Identtity
Identity has many parts
i learned that identity is not just one thing. it is made up of different parts like culture language and background. all of these come together to shape who a person is.
society shapes identity
i understand now that identity is not only personal. it is also shaped by society and how we grow up. the environment around us affects how we see ourselves and others.
being an international student
being an international student is a big part of my identity. moving to a new country made me more aware of differences and how i fit into a new environment.
language challenges
one of the biggest challenges for me is language. sometimes i know what i want to say but cannot say it clearly in english. this can be frustrating especially in class.
understanding others more
because of my experiences i feel like i understand that everyone has their own struggles. this made me want to be more aware and respectful of other people and their backgrounds.
Chapter 3: Capacity
leadership skills can be learned
i learned that leadership skills are not something you are just born with. they can be developed over time. this changed how i think about my own abilities.
capacity is skills and ability
capacity is about what you can do in leadership situations. it includes your skills knowledge and how you handle challenges. it is something that grows with experience.
my strengths
capacity is about what you can do in leadership situations. it includes your skills knowledge and how you handle challenges. it is something that grows with experience.
my challenges
one of my main challenges is communication. i sometimes struggle to speak confidently and express my ideas clearly.
want to improve communication
i want to get better at speaking by practicing more and not overthinking everything. i know improvement will take time but i want to work on it.
Chapter 4: Efficacy
efficacy means believing in yourself
i learned that efficacy is about believing you can do something. it is not just about having skills but also trusting yourself to use them.
belief affects actions
if you do not believe in yourself you are less likely to try. i realized that belief plays a big role in what actions you take.
confidence comes from experience
i used to think confidence comes first but now i see it comes after trying things and gaining experience.
self doubt holds me back
sometimes i doubt myself and feel like i am not as capable as others. this can stop me from speaking up or taking opportunities.
want to trust myself more
i want to work on trusting myself more and not letting doubt control my decisions. i know i have the ability but i need to believe it.
Chapter 5: Engagement
leadership keeps growing
i learned that leadership is not something you finish learning. it keeps developing over time as you gain new experiences.
everything is connected
identity capacity and efficacy are all connected. they work together and affect how someone grows as a leader.
growth can be uncomfortable
sometimes learning and growing feels uncomfortable. this class made me realize that discomfort is part of improvement.
leadership is not easy
leadership can be challenging and stressful at times. it is not always simple or easy like i thought before.
my goal moving forward
i want to keep improving and learning from my experiences. even if progress is slow i want to keep growing over time.
