the manhunt is written from the perspective of the wife of a soilder who has sustained serious injuries at war and has returned home. the poem explores the physical and mental effects of living with injuries sustained when on active service in the armed forces

published 'songs of experience' in 1794 in which he criticised and attacked the church, society and the city. London comes from this 2nd book
supported french revolution, eventually criticised it as it decended to chaos and violence.
