        -problem is that Autism is so broad and challenges are idiosyncratic. So many different people struggle with different aspects.
        
        This explination is insufficient because there must be an underlying pinciple which distinguishes those who have atypical gaze patterns from those who dont
        
        Two approaches: try analysing the data at different angles
        
        Increase the ecological validity of the materials and the scope with which they elicit
        
        Add time as a fourth dimesntion to the data to examine differences in eye gaze patterns
        
        This method is probelmatic because we can either look at the ordinal proportion of fixations
        
        or we can increase complexity of the modelling to account for time.
        
        this level of complexity (demisntrated by M1 is outside the scope of this project
        
        We can change our theory. make another social-emotion relevant deficit the main predictor of gaze atypicality
        
        options here include alexthymia
        
        we can increase our sample size so that the differences in groups are clearer.
        
        Chnage task instructions (which has an impact above and beyond the stimuli present or diagnosis)

        -new variable we’re looking at (eye fixation across time) neutral to happy, how people with autism see change across time.
        
        -discuss sequence analysis.
        
        -Then discuscuss how time is relevant/ papers with what like your supervisor wants if you decide to go down this path.
- - - - First, that facial complexity will be correlated with saccade frequency is guided by the assumption that those with ASD will have greater difficulty rating the likability of complex faces versus non complex faces
        
        this must be the case for two reasons
        
        first, saccade frequency and perceptual difficulty are known to be correlated.
        
        second, if people with asd struggle with greater complexity of task (as given by the dual tasks studies), then this challange should represent itself behaviourally.
        
        the main hypothesis we are testing is whether those with asd have greater diffculty percieving complex versus simple emotions
        
        we are, however, not testing emotion recogntion accuracy. but rather, perceptual challange.
        
        why? because we didnt test for accuracy. Further, it would be interesting to know that people with ASD do struggle to percieve more complex faces
      - Those who score lower on ASD will have reduced challange in rating the likability of complex faces
