Location
Where: The coast of Bangladesh, near the ocean (Bay of Bengal).
Context: Millions of people live on flat land very close to the water. When big storms hit, the water rises and covers the lands.
Disaster Risks
The Danger: High winds can blow down houses.
The Water: Large "storm surges" (giant waves) can wash away entire villages and farms.
Major Events
The Year 1970: A huge storm killed 300,000 people because there were no safe places to hide.
The Year 2020: A similar storm hit, but only 20 people died. This shows that the new shelters really work!

Impacts and benefits
-
Better Schools: Kids in poor areas get new, clean classrooms to study in.
Economic Safety: Because the farm animals are saved, families can start their lives again quickly after the storm.
Limitations
Not Enough Room: There are still many people who live too far away from a shelter. They need to build thousands more.
Rising Sea Levels: As the ocean rises due to climate change, the storms might get even bigger, meaning the shelters will need to be even taller in the future.
