Habitat
Freshwater Habitats-- Freshwater habitats for insects are places where there is no salty water such as rivers, ponds streams, lakes and wetlands.
Examples of insects that live in freshwaters are
Water strider- This is an insect that skims across water because of water tension, Diving beetle- This insect hunts other insects under water. Mosquito- These insects lay eggs in water, Dragonfly the dragonfly is an aquatic larvae insect
Grassland and Savanna Habitats-- This habitat is were insects are in an open area mainly with grass and a few trees. They live, find food and reproduce.
Examples of Grassland Insects are:
Bumblebee- pollinates wildflowers and crops, Monarch Butterfly- Migrates across North America, Digger wasp- buries its prey in soil nest
Desert habitats- Insects that live in the desert can live in extreme heat . Many insects are nonctural and save water.
Examples are:
Desert Locust- Swarms after rain, Darkling beetle-found in the Sahara desert, Velvert ant- Wingless wasp stings and is very furry, Sahara Silver ant- Fastest ant and loves extreme heat.
Rainforest Habitats- this is a warm, wet environment with lots of trees and rain. The insects live, feed and reproduce here. The examples of insects in the Rainforest habitat are:
Lanternfly- Brights colours with an unual shape.
Bullet Ant- This is a famous ant that is famous for its painful sting.
Blue Morpho Butterfly- It is found in the Amazon Rainforest

Different Insects - There are different types of Insects. Some are helpful to humans and others can harm humans.
Common Insects:
Butterflies- Butterflies are very colourful that start their life from a caterpillar. They are beautiful creatures.
Ant: Ants are very small, hardworking insects that live in colonies. They carry their food back and forth to their nest. They are very hardworking insects and are known for their teamwork.
Bees- Bees can sting you. They collect polline and produce beewax and honey.
Ladybug- Lady bugs are beautiful, very small they are round and are black and red. They help humans to hill all the pest off crops.
Dragonflies- Dragonflies have long bodies and fly very fast. They are found close to water.
Life cycle of an insect Insects go through Metamorphisis, they go through different stages of live.
Metamorphis is known as the change in form.
There are two types Complete and Incomplete Metamormphis.
Complete metamorphis has four stages, egg-larva- pupa-adult. They start in an egg, move into larva which is a worm like then move to a pupa which is a cocoon and then into an adult.
The Incomplete Metamorphis, It is a three stage lifecysle. Its start in an egg, moves into Nympth and ends in an adult. A grasshopper is an example of an Incomplete Metamorhis where a butterfly is an example of an Complete metamorphis.
Human Interactions- How insects harm us - Some insects harm humans. They have diseases, destroy homes and kill crops. Examples are Mosquitos- Mosquitos have diseases that can transfer to human including Malaria. Termites- Termites destroy homes and eat wood. Pest- Some pest destroy crops where garners and farmers loose their fruits and vegetables.
