- - - - Meanwhile Nadia Sariahmed Belhadj enages in a focused study on the 1960 Algeirs protests, not enaging in any comparative study, but instead looking at the different factors as to how and why ordinary Algerians protest (2022). This is with the goal of reducing the traditional focus on the FLN and expanding the focus on ordinary Algerians (Sariahmed, 2022).

      - Both at points discuss urban georgraphy.
    - - One is comparative one is focused solely on Algeirs.
      - One is focused heavily on urban geography and the other is a broader study of why the Algeirs protests occured.
- - - - House's article adopts three case studies, Casablanca, Algeirs and Paris, creating a broad base line for his annalysis (House, 2018). These three case studies are then analysed through the lens of urban georgrphy and its impacts on politics (House, 2018) and nationalism creating an interdisplanary study of geographya and politics.
        
        The case selection for this article helps to support the House's primary analysis on the role of urban geography by providing more than one example of role of certain phenomena in protests. For example in all three examples that House deploys we are can see the importance of space (House, 2018), had only one city been selected this could have been dismissed as either a local phenonom or could be dissmissed as a anomly in the normal patter of protests. Instead with three case studies showing similar trends (House, 2018), House's arguement on the importance of urban geography in these protests is strengthened.
      - Meanwhile Balhadj Sariahmed's article adopts a more focused case selection with the article only exploring the protests that occured in Algeris in 1960 (Balhadj Sariahmed, 2022, p108), but provides a broader analysis focusing not just on urban geogrpahy, but also colonial history and security forces actions (Balhadj Sariahmed, 2022).
        
        Although this methodology is the inverse of House's work this does not mean that it is a weakness of the analysis. Instead this methodology provides its own strengthns to the study. With a more focused case study greater depth in out understnading of that case study can be devleoped as Balhadj Sariahmed does with her article providing us not just with an undrstnaidng fo the role of urban geopraphy in these protests, but also the role of colonial violence (Balhadj Sariahmed, 2022). Whilist this means we do not gain a much understnadinf of other protests, in the study of the Algeirs protests this is less necessary then a deep understnading of the protests themselves.
        
        Whilist the two articles use different methodologies, there respective methods do not undermine their works, but instead help to strengthen them.
  - - - Neither artciles enage clearly and directly with elements of theory with Balhadj Sariahmed coming close with indriect references to opportunities structures theory when discussing softer policing (Balhadj Sariahmed, 2022, p114) and resource mobilistion theory when discussing the ability of protesters to mobilise more proteters as more protesters (a resource) come to the streets (Balhadj Sariahmed, 2022, pp122-123).
        
        Meanwhile House does not enage in any theory instead focusing on the topic of urban geopgraphy without a theoretical background (House, 2018). Mention that enaging in theory is less common in history
        
        This lack of enagement with theory removes the some of the links between the two articles and the broader scholarship, making these articles more focused on the topics they are enaging with.
  - - - House's work draws primarily from the colonial archive (House, 2018, p5) Balhadj Sariahmed provides a greater focus on non-colonial sources and seeks to use a range of interviews to support their arguements (Sariahmed, 2022).
        
        The purpose of Sariahmed's greater use of oral history is in order to reduce the amount of focus that is placed on colonial forces and investiage the role of ordinary Algerians, outside FLN structures, in the protests (Sariahmed, 2022, p108). This is with the goal of expanding the agency that the shcolarship on these protests place on ordinary Algerians and so that we can see them as seperate actors to the FLN (Sariahmed, 2022).
        
        Whilist we should not dismiss House's reduced use of these sources, espically as his focus is on urban georgraphy and colonail sources on colonial policies towards builidng cities will provide useful information, it is important to note the streghent in Sariahmed's use of sources.
        
        By directly enaging with the protests and those who were around the protest the article is able to look at sources and people who have recived less focus in the scholarship (Sariahmed, 2022). This process helps provide the article with inherent uniqueness as it is rooted in the use of new and underexplored sources that will provide new perspectives that can be explored.
        
        These differences lead to the two articles developing different perspectives. Sariahmed focuses on the people involved in the protests and their reasons behind their particatipn (2022). Meanwhile, House's greater use of the colonial archive leads him to explore more the role of the colonial state and its of the creation of urban geography of the cities in fueling the protests (2018).
