Colombus arrives in America.
Columbus first arrived in the Americas on October 12, 1492. Though he believed he had reached East Indies in Asia, he actually made landfall on an island in the present day Bahamas.
Vespucci arrived in the Americas and explored in 1499-1502.

Hernando Cortés conquered the Aztecs by using stronger weapons and getting help from other Native groups. Disease like smallpox also weakened the Aztecs, making it easier for Spain to take over.

Francisco Pizarro defeated the Inca Empire by capturing their leader Atahualpa and taking control. The Spanish then took large amounts of gold and silver, increasing their wealth.
