Locomotor
Definition: Movement that involves traveling from one place to another.
Key Focus: Developing speed, agility, and power through activities like sprinting and racing.
Perceptual Motor
Definition: The ability to receive, interpret, and respond to sensory information through movement.
Key Focus: Managing objects (like balls or bats) while moving, such as volleying or hitting over a net.
Rhythm
Definition: Coordinating body movements in a timed, repetitive, or sequential pattern.
Key Focus: Mastering the timing of specific actions, such as the "crouch start" in athletics or determining a take-off foot for jumping.
Co-ordination
Definition: The ability to move different body parts together smoothly and efficiently.
Key Focus: Hand-eye coordination through throwing, catching, and bouncing objects while stationary or walking.
Spatial Orientation
Definition: Understanding the body's position in relation to the space and objects around it.
Key Focus: Changing direction quickly and navigating complicated obstacle courses.
Balance
Definition: Maintaining a stable body position while stationary or moving.
Key Focus: Keeping control of the body during complex movements like batting or hitting shots over a rope.
Laterality
Definition: Developing an internal awareness of the right and left sides of the body.
Key Focus: Using both the left and right sides of the body independently, such as kicking a moving ball with either foot.
Sports and Games
Definition: Applying physical skills within a structured, competitive, or collaborative environment.
Key Focus: Teamwork and rule-following through mini-versions of cricket, tennis, and relay running.
