        Any area that has identified present Japanese Beetle infestation, will have a quarantine zone set up so dirt cannot be transported across city lines. This stops grubs from being introduced to new areas via human transportation. There also is a current eradication plan in Yakima and Benton County that requires residence from these counties to submit consent to spray insectide on turf grass. The WSDA is currently placing traps to monitor and capture adult Japanese Beetles throughout the state.
        
        The US Domestic Japanese Beetle Harmonization Plan created in 1998 to help the United States catoegorize each infestation and then have actions in place for treatment for each category. This was created to help eradicate and set guidelines country wide to deal with this pest.
        
        Oregon Funding Cut Oregon Legislation recently just cut funding for Japanese Beetle eradication plan for 2026. After a 10 year battle with trying to eradicate this pest using inescticide, they decided to not fund the program. A $2 million bill that funded the eradication plan. Now, experts say this nonfunding of the program puts the burden on homeowners, farmers and citiziens to deal with the beetle themselves. They had the beetle population down by 92% last year with the program in place. Without this program, in a few years the beetles may become established throughout the state.
        
        More money needed for fight against two invasive bugs for $12.3 million to backfill the Japanese Beetle eradication plan. This plan helps pay for special yard waste disposal program and to treat the 11,800 infested acres across Washington State.

        Currently the WSDA is treating a lawn insectide treatment for residence in quarantine zones in Yakima County, to prevent the Japanese Beetle from developing from a destructive larval stage to a destructive adult beetle.

Addition revenue loss of $1,143 per average yield. They spend on average $20.3 increase per acre for treating their crops. When they treat their crops with insecticide, it puts their organic status at risk.
        
        California Dept of AG.Efforts to control the larval and adult stages are estimated to cost more than $460 million a year. Losses attributable to the larval stage alone have been estimated at $234 million per year—$78 million for control costs and an additional $156 million for replacement of damaged turf.”

They then start to lay 40-60 eggs over a 4-6 week span. Once the female beetle initally lays her eggs, she then starts to plants. Beetles have over 300 different species they consume by they tend to lean more towards roses, grapes, cherries and berry bushes. As well as Japanese Maples. Once they start eating they usually work from the top of the plant down, and they "skeletalize" the plant by consuming all of the insides of the plant. Beetles are actively feeding on plants from the months May-August. Once eggs hatch, they turn into grubs. Grubs hatch in autumn and develop into 2 instars and develop overwinter in the soil. In March time, these grubs come to the surface of the soil and start feeding on grass roots for 4-8weeks.
