WSDA caught 72,626 Japanese Beetles in Washington in 2025, mostly in Grandview area. 2024 they caught 26,000 beetles roughly in Washington. First beetle was found in 2020 and treatments started in 2022. In 2024 32 beetles were found in Seatac are and 865 were trapped in 2025. There will be treatments for this area in 2026.

Oregon Funding Cut
In 2017, an analysis was done to determine the economic impacts of the Japanese Beetle if it became established in the state. The ODA found that roughly $45 million in damages to crops and businesses would occur, which is abput $60 million now. Washington would have significantly more impact.
This next section will discuss the studies done with simulated climates and what that means for Japanese Beetle and what that will affect.
