Nautrophils
most abundant phagocytes
function: first cells to arrive at the infection site, engulf and destroy bacteria, and die fighting when exposed to infection
Macrophages
develop from monocytes which are WBC
function:are chief phagocytic cells; strongest
Dendritic Cells
type of antigen present cell
fucntioncapture antigens, travel to lymph nodes, activate T cells, Major initiators of Adaptive immune response
Natural Killer (NK) cells
type of innate lymphocytes
function: kill virus infected cells, do not require prior exposure, part of Innate but kill the T cell
Lymphocytes
type of Adaptive immunity
function: produce antibodies, differentiate into lasam cells. form memory B cells, responseable for humoral immunity
Plasma Cell
type of activated B cell
function produce large amounts of antibodies, Helper T cells (CD4+) type of adaptive immunity
functioncoordinate immune repsonses, activate B cell and cytotixic T cells, stimulate macrophages
Cytotoxic T cells (CD8+)
type of Adaptive immunity
function kill infected cells and responsible for cell mediated immunity
Regulatory T cells
function: suppress immune respone and prevent autoimmune reactions
Memory Cells (B and T)
function: provide long term immunity and respond fast during second exposure
