Culpability: In the context of criminal law, it refers to the culpable state of mind of an offender at the time of the committing an offense. In modern American criminal codes, typically Model Penal Code, the alternative culpability level includes, purposely, knowingly,reckless, and negligently , and all offenses are defined to specify which of these levels of culpability is required as to each of the objective elements of the offense definition. The term is also sometimes in a broader sense to beam blameworthiness.
