National holidays in Japan
All mordern national holidays in Japan were established during Meiji era in accordance with emperor's celebrations. In Showa era, some holidays were added as national folk holidays.
During Edo era, the Shogunate resume set up 9 national holidays based on Chinese philosophy such as girls' day and boy's day. Besides that, regional holidays were celebrated on their own.
