Then Results
Lastly, the Materials & Methods
*Read carefully due to technical details & advanced language
Ask yourself: "Does the data match the question & conclusion?"
Ask yourself: "Why was this study conducted" & "Does the question match the conclusion?"
Answer to the question & explanation of the results
Has the "why", "how", findings, & meaning of the study
Always skim the article first
Ask yourself if the article is interesting & if it is actually relevant to my research study
Where to look for key points:
First, the Title
Then the Abstract
Next, the Keywords Section
Figure & Table Titles
Lastly, the 1st & Last Sentences of the Intro
*Take Notes Along the Way

the overall purpose
the study approach
the main results
the significance
*Read in a directed way
Read the whole paper after skimming & reread the article again for more understanding
States the experimental results
Important info including the known,
unknown, research question/purpose,
experimental approach, results & significance
Gives background, problem/unknown, research question, purpose, general approach, and possibly the key results & their significance
explains the importance &
possible impact of the
study; layout pathway/idea
for future studies
presents the findings, results
& overall approach
Summarize a research article by explaining the main question/purpose, approach, main findings,
and overall impact/relevance of the study
Critique a research article by pointing out
positive & negative aspects
while giving helpful recommendations
