The Science article, and the CBC article go together in explaining how STEM has perpetuated racism through years of medicine. CBC states, "Racism has been perpetuated under the guise of science going back centuries" (Mortillaro, 2021). Science says, "After surveying 25,000 STEM professionals from 2017 to 2019, [Cech] found that scientists who identified as part of a minority group—including women, people of color, ethnic minorities, LGBTQ scientists, those with a disability, and people with more than one of those identities—are disadvantaged in a multitude of ways compared with heterosexual, able-bodied, white men" (Langin, 2022). These articles both show that race has played a part in STEM for centuries. They both explain how disadvantaged people of color have been when referring to science.
