Real life fears
Fears of docility
Literacy
There is a current fear in society of the lack of literacy in many children and teenagers, commonly noticed on social media there are a significant enough number of people failing to use basic literacy such as misspellings, mistaking homophones (their/they're/there) and sentences with little to no proper grammar. This links heavily to a Huxleyan dystopia because in his writings books are banned, making the population less literate, making them easier to control.
Media literacy
A big fear of people is the lack of media literacy in people which is the ability to understand and scrutinize the media they consume and being able to understand the accuracy and credibility of what they consume. The fears are that people are either becoming too docile, too incompetent or too trusting to understand and critique the media they consume
"Brainrot"
Brainrot is a major concern of people because of its impact on kids and their attention spans and literacy because of its overstimulating nature and its often illogical and meaninglessness. This also links to a Huxleyan dystopia because in this type of dystopia, stimulating media is used to make people docile and distracted from reality.

Fears of technology
Overuse of technology
The overuse of technology is a fear that has been around since technology has been around, fears such as making people less intelligent, less physically able and less mentally able. A current fear is the fear of AI and fears of it taking jobs, harming the environment and making people less intelligent and overly dependant on it
Technology in education
There is a present fear that technology in education is harming the development of younger children, making them inattentive and overall less intelligent due to the bright colours and addictive nature of technologies such as ipads or overstimulating videos
Surveillance
Surveillance is a very real fear in today's society because of the large amount of technology that is inside of our homes and it has been proven that the technology in our homes can and has been used to spy and surveil people without them being aware whatsoever.
What is a dystopia?
A dystopia is simply put, a future which is considered bad, through themes such as dehumanisation, control and oppression. It's a very powerful genre because it can give us an insight into what is going on today and show us how we may be heading towards such a future
