        The only emotion allowed will be love for Big Brother and hatred for enemies

        He begs the guards to torture her instead of him
        
        After this moment, Winston is completely defeated
        
        His love for Julia disappears
- - - - Winston says that he has not betrayed Julia emotionally
        
        However, he slowly begins to accept the Party's ideas and tries to change his thoughts
- - - - They both admit that they betrayed each other and no longer love each other
        
        Winston becomes loyal to the Party
        
        He accepts all propaganda and believes the Party's version of reality
        
        At the end, Winston listens to news about a military victory and feels happiness and pride
        
        He finally understands that he loves Big Brother
