Plot
Fight, we start in the middle of a fight, it is inferred that they are fighting over the diamond, presumably stolen, in the villains hands. The hero tries to distance herself to shoot her beams while the villain gets close to punch and kick. We see these vents through a news camera
The fight seems almost unnecessarily intense, they are both beating each other to a bloody pulp. the villain gets one good strikes and slams them against a wall.
The villain come up to finish the job, the hero, thinking they might die, kisses the villain, causing them to drop the diamond. They look into each others eyes. the villain sticks out a hand. offering to leave with the hero. To stop fighting so they can be free together like they have always wanted. This is seen through their perspectives only
The hero puts a hand on her lovers heart. It seems they want to go with them. But they shoot a beam through her chest. Killing her instantly. The hand falls and so does she. the hero kneels down and places one more sorrowful kiss on her fore head. before returning to a position of fake bravado and happiness as the news camera find her again. She has trapped herself.

Themes
Conformity
Both conform to what is thought of them, the hero aligns themself with the status quo and the state while the super villain aligns herself purely with the public perception of villainy, wreaking havoc on a massive scale, abandoning her principles.
They only find freedom through their connection and love, allowing them to momentarily be free of wha is expected
However in the end, the hero aligns herself to strongly with the status quo to ever allow herself this, and kills the villain. Metaphorically killing her chance of a life of freedom
