Available research shows that commuter students experience unique sources of stress that impact their well-being. They are more likely to work off campus, work more hours, and work to pay bills and tuition than residential students (Alfano & Eduljee, 2013; Burlison, 2015, cited Pinto, 2024). Moreover, commuter students report more stress related to work, money, and time constraints than residential students (Forbus et al., 2010, cited Pinto 2024).
