GENERAL
Definitions
Postmodern Media refers to texts that break conventions, question reality and play with meaning
Features
Hyper-reality & Simulation: Media creates a "simulacrum"—a simulation of reality that feels more real than reality itself.
Intertextuality & Pastiche: Media texts often borrow, reference, or remix styles and narratives from other sources, blending different genres rather than creating entirely original content.
Self-Reflexivity/Meta-reference: Texts often acknowledge their own artificiality, such as breaking the fourth wall, reminding the audience they are consuming a constructed media product.
Fragmentation & Non-Linearity: Storylines are often fragmented or told out of order to challenge traditional, linear narratives.
Irony & Parody: A playful, cynical tone is used to critique or mock established conventions.
