        Commentary
        
        Poetry is used as an poet's journal. It is a piece of writing that captures the author's feelings, observations, and current insights of the time. By reading poetry, we are able to see the thought process of the poet and first hand documentation of real life events.
        
        Readers are able to learn more about an event they've read, but have never lived, from a poet's experience in a personal and deeply emotional way. The memories described in a poem are able to resonate with the reader, granting not only a knowledge based understanding, but also a powerfully emotional comprehension of the event.
        
        Rifenburg states that poetic strategies act as checkpoints that help us remember poetry: "Devices such as repetition, alliteration, rhythm, rhyme, and meter also greatly aid the human mind in memorizing poetry.
        
        Readers are able to gain knowledge not only about the content, but about various figurative language and poetic techniques commonly used in poetry. This allows for a greater fluency in the ability to analyze texts, understand them, and write about them.

        While each author does have a unique style of writing, the writers don't diverge too far from a simple foundation that is able to connect poems together and allow for a community to foster. This allows for individuals to be able to show their originality in their poems.
      - When Percy Shelley calls poetry "the expression of the imagination" she is also saying that the author can write whatever they can imagine and that what they write is also a way for the author to express their thoughts to others.
