        Understanding the Request and Context
        Clarify what prompted the training request and ensure training is actually the right solution to the need.
        
        Define Audience
        Determine who the learners are and how they access learning. Determine things like skill levels, learning preferences, barriers to learning such as scheduling, technology, etc.
        
        Define Learning Objectives
        Based on the performance gap(s) you identified, define what learners should be able to do after training. Learning objectives should be specific, measurable, and tied to performance.
        
        Needs Assessment
        Define gap between current and desired performance. What do the learners know/do versus what they need to know/do?
        
        Establish Timeline and Delivery Target
        Assess the lift required to deliver the agreed upon learning, urgency of the request based on market/regulatory factors, or other company needs and provide the business partner with a realistic estimated date of completion. If the material is needed sooner than is reasonable, connect with management to discuss before agreeing to a timeline.
        
        Document Findings
        Update your task with all of your findings. This ensures we stay on track and enables us to transition work from one person to another as seamlessly as is possible.
