Computer misuse Act
Section 1
Section 1 is when a person gains access to a computer program or someone's data without permission .

Section 2 is when a person gains access to a computer program/data (section 1) and intends to commit another crime.

Section 3 is when a person performs unauthorised acts that impair a computer's operation, access to data and modify or delete data.

The consequences of breaking section 3ZA is minimum 14 years in prison but could be life imprisonment (21 years) if their act cause a significant risk of loss of life etc.
Section 3A
Section 3A is when a person creates malicious malware that can be used for breaking into or compromising computer systems
The consequences of breaking section 3A are 2 years but this could depend on if the defendant had an intent to commit a crime because it is not a crime to posse's malware.

Is to protect people's personal data and ensure that their data is handle by organisations responsibly .
