education
who
mostly children until adults in their 20's
why this age
why
to gain education aobut how the world works (economy, history, language, science), morals, relationships, indepencency, responsibility, adn integrity
why we need these foundations
we live in a fast paced world and also full of judgement. Children goes to school until they're a young adult because it is a prime time to learn how to live life until you're old. Additionally, it also helps you lead your own life and potentially others, such as your future family.
to get a job you actually enjoy
why do we want a job that we actually enjoy instead of an easy job that we don't enjoy
we will spend more than half of our live working a job. Working a job that we enjoy won't actually feel like "working". Therefore, working this job fo rthe long run won't be draining, and we will enjoy it while making money to fulfill our daily needs.
how
people can gain education by going to school or universities
people need money to gain education
rich people
these students can get into prestigious schools or private schools. these schools is usually monitored well to keep up their reputation. Therefore, not many harrasement or bullying is done in this type of schools
easier to
Why
most prerequisites of enrolling to a high ranking institutions, you need something to differentiate you from other students, this is achieved by going a previous high ranking school and having excellent marks, by competing in national teams and winning, as well as having experiences outside school
experiences outside of school can educate you on real work stuff
1 more item...
because more money = more resources = better education
consequence
we have now built a society that has Commercialised Education
how?
elite private schools, withholding premium education (premium teachers, more learning materials/facilities)
those that have access to this, are systemically being more educated
Hence it strays away from its original ideal
ideal = everyone has education, and that those to strive for more, gain more
Ideal: everyone gets the same education
reality = not everyone gets the same education
economic context
accessibility
quality education is gatekept by money
cultural context = parental style changes how everyone gets their education, and the quality of parenting changes quality of education
Parents own education level matters
cultural context = people's own perception or education institutions and its value
cultural context = some cultures, being a woman puts you at a disadvantage to get education, and hence you don't get the same education as male counterparts
political context
policies govern how, who, when people get education
consumerism
who does this
adults in their 20's
why
people in their 20's is when they get their first "real job" thus they are proud when they get their first paycheck. therefore, they tend to spend it for things that they want such as luxury items and "trending" items
middle to high socioeconomic level people
rich people has excess money where they can spend it on enything. these peole usually spend it on things that they don't need
as a way to prove social status, so that people will them as powerful
what is bought
trending items such as collectible figurines, buying excess luxury items,
by
what is it
buying things that you want but don;'t need in excess.
why
with the intention of collection, keeping up with trends to get validation from other people to feel good, essentially as an ego boost or for attention
why it's bad
buying stuff in excess creates waste. when you buy stuff in excess, those stuff will eventually become useless, therefore it's better to spend money on usefull things such as necessities.
Social Media
Provides information
Influences who we pick by changing our understanding
Spreading information
that we didn't know
Good
Get a complete picture of who will lead us, and potential activities
Because in the past, we were not as closely connected to those who are/want to lead us
Find out things that make a person a poor candid
However, info made up can detract us from a capable candidate
Bad
Info can be made up
Can withhold information through algorithms so that you don't even know about some members
Candidates with more financial and political power can manipulate what is being pushed by the algorithm
How? They can post more. They can pay for more advertisement (pushing their content into more people's feeds)
Everyone has power
Similarity between a democratic world and the world of social media/digital media/the internet
Everyone can produce information
Dangerous because not everyone is qualified or have integrity to spread the truth
neutral
no actions
nosteps towards
justice
poor people can't gain good quality eduation, they can enroll in a government suported schoold and attend the school for free but most of these schools are poorly maintained. Students and teachers may bully or harras eachother without getting caught because these people don't have the money to report it to the police
how do poor people gain quality education
scholarships
harder to
Power
]
How?
They get to amke thier own choice
How?
with their own understanding of the members of the state
Impact of stress
Shortages and stress form the perfect conditions for error.
love
who?
economic lens
rich vs poor
rich people can do grand gestures, poor ppl cannot
you may think that rich people can therefore show love is more unique ways
however....
but in reality (ironically)
poor people seem to have stronger familial bonding (which can be seen as a version of love)
poor people learn to appreciate less, and are hence more satified, whereas rich people, are often constantly looking for satisfaction and can never appreciate what they have
this suggests that money itself doesnt automatically allow a person to love more, but it is rather other factors that make true love sustain
putting in effort
gratitude
cultural lens
men vs women
x
political context
policies on gender roles
equality
the government can make a campaign and hand out scholarships for high achieving students in their current school
