Dyspnea, jugular vein injury and hepatomegaly
1.Dyspnea
Subjective sensation of difficult or labored breathing
Commonly caused by:
Pulmonary congestion
Reduced oxygen exchange
Increased pressure in the pulmonary circulation
Often worsens with physical activity or when lying flat
2.Heart Failure
Inability of the heart to pump blood effectively
Leads to increased venous pressure and poor systemic circulation
Can be caused by
Chronic lung disease
Left-sided heart failure progressing to right-sided failure
Valvular or myocardial disease
3.Jugular Vein Distention
Visible enlargement or distention of the jugular veins
Common causes
Right-sided heart failure
Pericardial disease
Pulmonary hypertension
4.Systemic Venous Congestion
Accumulation of blood in the venous system
Leads to increased pressure in peripheral organs
5.Hepatomegaly
Enlargement of the liver due to venous congestion
Results from
Backward pressure from the inferior vena cava
Chronic passive congestion of hepatic veins
