Global Effects on Climate Change
Physical Change
Rising global temperatures are currently one of the most direct effects of climate change. The main reason is produced by their being an increasingly higher amount of green house gases. These gases trap heat inside our atmosphere which is heating up the earth. As the average temperature goes up around the world our ecosystems and natural reserves feel the outrage. Ice caps are having a faster melting rate, their is an increase in heatwaves and wildfires, and their is a lot more stress on our ecosystems in todays day.
Rising Global Temperatures
Rising Global Temperatures
Changing Precipitation
More severe droughts and floods
Increases rainfall
...
Average global temperatures are increasing worldwide
Heat waves are becoming more frequent and intense
Ice and snow melt faster due to warming
Oceans absorb more heat and warm up
Connection: Rising temperatures lead to extreme weather events and melting ice
Melting Glaciers
/
Melting glaciers have a drastic effect on our climate and ecosystems. Melting glaciers increase sea levels making certain areas much harder to access. They also can really help to reflect sunlight back into space but as they melt more and more the sun gets absorbed into the earth and the temperatures will rise. This is creating a cycle of ice melting and temperatures rising. Many animals also have to depend on the ice to move around like polar bears and the more the ice melts the more the polar bear numbers are going to continue to drop because of the effect it brings onto them. In final the melting of glaciers have a huge effect on our ecosystems and the overall temperature.
Climate Migration (Refugees)
Displacement
Flooding
Droughts
Rained Sea Levels
Increased Housing Demand
Large Cities
Higher Prices
Homelessness
Economical Change
Impacts on Tourism
Tourism is deeply affect by climate chat and has been a ton overtime now, with unpredictable weather and temperature changes tourism has taken a massive tole. Due to many abrupt changes many geographical sites in nature almost anywhere have much shorter seasons where they can be seen, there are many places that show us strong examples of this. Tourism has also been deeply affected as unpredictable weather patterns causes tourist to stay away from certain destinations. In final tourism has taken a deep hit and change as climate change worsens and will continue to do so
Dead Crops (lack of produce)
Animals are forced away from these areas creating forced migration
People are starving more due to less access to food
Impacts on fishing
Lots of fish die or get washed up onto beaches
Fishermans jobs get significantly reduced
Fish are not turning up where they are supposed to be
Diseases will spread due to higher temperatures
Shrinking Productivity of Harvest
Relocation of whole towns
Loss of Capacity to work due to heat
Fresh water will be in short supply in some areas
Prices of basic foodstuffs and customer goods will rise
Social Change
Food insecurity
Water shortages (Advisories
Approximately 4 billion people on earth experience some sort of water shortages for at least 1 month of the year. It is partly causes by the change in precipitation an area recieves which has drastically changed as climate change worsens. Climate change alters rain patterns causing more severe droughts and stronger floods. People who live in these areas face water shortages.
Impacts on Indigenous Communites
Displacing
Less Wildlife to hunt
Climate change has deeply affected indigenous patterns, It has disrupted their food supply from many sources. For ex: Less fish around for indigenous to fish due to the rising sea levels and salmon being forced to to other places. Climate change has also displaced some indigenous communites due to the more severe weather, Longer winters, more wildfires and flood
Ecological Change
Habitat Loss
Deforestation from Wildfires
Warmer temperature melts ice leading to arctic habitats
Species Migration
Disruption on food chain
Animals move towards cooler climates
Increased competition with native speicies in their new habitat
Coral Bleaching
Climate change has been raising ocean temperatures at a speedy rate. This is causing the ocean to be a lot beyond the temperature that corals are able to tolerate. When water is too warm corals start to release the algae that lives inside of them that provide their food as well as there colour. Without algae corals are more likely to die and turn into a white colour.
Extreme Weather Events
...
Hurricanes and storms are stronger
Flooding occurs more often
Droughts last longer
Wildfires are more frequent
Connection: Extreme weather is caused by rising temperatures and leads to human and economic impacts
