Pollution
:
"The introduction of harmful materials into the environment that damage the ecosystem."
Types of pollution
Thermal pollution:
Def: Sudden change in natural water temperature.
Sources: Nuclear power plants and industrial cooling.
Air Pollution
Def: Harmful gases and dust degrade the air quality.
Sources: Factory smoke, car exhaust.
Effects on animals: Respiratory diseases, lungs infection, breathing difficulties.
Effects on Ecosystem: Leads to Global warming, Acid Rain, and depletion of the Ozone layer.
Control and prevention : Planting more trees (Afforestation and using electric vehicles or solar energy.
Soil pollution
Def: Degradation of land due to chemical wastes.
Sources: Plastics, pesticides, chemical fertilizers
Effects on ecosystem: Reduces land fertility and damages the underground biodiversity of the soil.
Effects on animals: Loss of natural habitat and poisoning of land.
Control and prevention : using organic fertilizers and following the 3Rs ( Reduce, Reuse, Recycle).
Noise pollution
Def: Harmful levels of sound disrupting the environment .
Sources: Traffic horn, construction, and heavy machines
Effect on Ecosystem: Disrupt wildlife migration patterns and birds nesting behaviors in environment.
Effects on animals: Hearing loss, extreme stress and interfere with animals communication and breeding.
Control and Preventions: Installing sound barriers and implementing strict government laws for industrial zones.
Water pollution
Def:Toxic substances contaminating rivers and ocean.
Source : Industrial water, sewage, and oil spill.
Effects on ecosystem: Disrupts the natural temperature balance and biological clocks of Aquatic species.
Effects on Animal: Reduce oxygen levels in water, leading to the suffocation and death of fish.
Control and prevention: Using cooling ponds and switching to clean, alternative energy sources.
