DEFINING WHAT AI IS
AI (Artificial Intelligence) is technology that allows computers to learn, think, and make decisions like humans do
It uses data and patterns to answer questions, solve problems, or create content
AI is behind things we use every day, like Siri, Google Assistant, and social media algorithms
It can understand language, recognise images, and even generate text or ideas
AI doesn’t “think” like a person — it follows patterns and information it was trained on.
POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE USE OF AI
Positives: AI can help students understand difficult topics by explaining them in simpler ways
Positives: It can act like a tutor, giving personalised help and feedback.
Positives: AI tools can save time by helping with research or brainstorming ideas
Positives: It supports different learning styles, like visual or written explanations
Positives: AI can help teachers with correcting work or planning lessons, making school more efficient
Negatives: students might become too dependent on Ai and stop thinking for themselves
Negatives: AI can be used to cheat by writing full assignments or answers, which is not allowed
Negatives: it sometimes gives wrong or biased information because it relies on imperfect data
Negatives: using AI too much can reduce creativity and problem - solving skills
Negatives: It raises questions about fairness, privacy, and who controls the information we see
USEFUL TOOLS STUDENTS CAN USE WITH AI
Chat - based AI tools like co - pilot or chatgpt for brainstorming, summaries, and explanations
Grammar and writing helpers like Grammarly or Quillbot to improve writing quality
Math and science tools like Photomath or Wolfram Alpha for step by step solutions
Language learning apps like Duolingo that use AI to personalise lessons
Study tools like Quizlet, which uses AI to generate flashcards and practice questions
AGREEMENT REGARDING AI FOR HOMEWORK, PROJECTS AND ACCA’S
AI can be used for research, brainstorming, and understanding topics, but not for writing full answers or assignments
Students must always write their own work and only use AI as a support tool, not a replacement
Any ideas or text taken from AI must be checked for accuracy and properly referenced
AI can’t be used during ACCA exams or assessments, as this counts as cheating
Teachers should be to,d when AI was used in a project ( e.g “AI helped me brainstorm ideas” )
Students agree to use AI ethically responsibly, and in line with school rules
