Do not judge
presume it is true before proven otherwise
Report appropriately
familiarise and follow the organisations procedure for reporting suspected abuse
report to a named person, or make a referral to NSPCC, CQC, Police
not reporting correctly, can lead to failing to carry out responsibilities
e.g. keeping evidence and how to record details on what you've noticed or been told
support and comfort
reassuring language - (e.g. "it's not your fault")
duty to report
doing nothing is not an option because the individual may be at risk and it could cause harm not saying something
don't delay reporting any suspicious or disclosures of abuse, to ensure the individuals safety
don't ignore signs
