The Sound and the Fury: a post-slavery Mississippi family is on the decline. They don't have the same land nor finances they used to, and the family is slowly deteriorating. In obession with the youngest sister, her purity and rebellious behavior is depicted in the minds of many without actually hearing her voice narrated in the novel. Relationships with time are never linear, besides in the eye of the family's maid, who acts as the most sound logic in the novel. Besides Caddy, whose being lingers all throughout the novel, the other siblings like Benjy, Quentin, and Jason struggle to remain in the present moment. Their failures are also seen in carrying the family legacy in the manner of which the parents intended for them.
