Outside Example
Colby College's major is titled Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies. However, in the three WGSS courses I have taken, these three categories are only a fraction of the greater discussion. Yes, gender, sexuality, and women are all integral to the greater discussion; however, it is more often than not focused on the violence that is imposed upon these bodies within society. This would mean that the title is excluding trans bodies, disabled bodies, etc., which are all very much included in the "Women, Gender, and Sexuality" course syllabi. From this perspective, I can understand the field as a study of violent political systems and a critique of societies and the government's failures to account for varying embodiments of humans.
