Phases
Stance 60% - ECCENTRIC muscle activity. Deceleration, stability, forward propulsion and prep for swing. EX. Stand to SIT.
Initial contact: Moment, shock abs, impact decel, Heel rocker
Muscles: Hip extensors (restrain forw momentum)---- Quads (maintain knee position at ext), Hamstrings (protect hyperextension), Pre tibial (eccentric lowering of foot)
Loading response
Shock absorptoin. Most muscle activity HERE,
Might see Knee giving way -> Quad weakness, Trendelburg (weak hip ext or abductors)
Muscles: Hip ext/abd - concentr to draw hip forwards. Quads - eccentr to stop knee flexion. Hamstrings concetric, pretibials: draw tibials over foot. Ankle rocker. GOING INTO DF.
-
terminal stance
Max DF, hip and knee ext. Plantar Flexors working HARD -> 50% of forward propulsion. Soleus controls tibial advancement, Gastroc facilitates knee flexion at end oof terminal stance -----NEED 5-10 deg ankle DF--- Need 10 deg hip extension
Pre swing
Muscles: Hip Flexors, Quads (rectus fem eccentric, PF's shorten for elastic recoil. --- knee 40 deg flexion.

Terms
Step = initial contact of 1 foot to other foot. STRIDE = contact of one limb ot same limb. ---------------MOMENT = effect causued by a force on an axis, external moments need to be met by internal moment force.
