39 year old female with a background history of HCVRNA positive infection
presented to hospital after her family had noted abnormal behaviour and
disorientation for 2 days. She c/o generalised abdominal pain
Low grade temperature in ED – 37.9oC, disorientated to time but orientated
to place and person, asterixis on examination
Abdomen was distended (with shifting dullness, no fluid thrill) but soft with
generalised tenderness without any guarding or rigidity.
Blood test results – platelets 78 x 109/L, INR 1.8, AST 350 U/L, ALT 200 U/L,
albumin 26g/l, and bilirubin 98 μmol/l. U&E normal.
