Waiting for Godot: Vladimir and Estragon are unable to make sense of, escape, or control their time, as displayed in their repeated decisions to leave the tree where they have been "killing time" awaiting a higher purpose, followed by motionlessness. Ultimately, it is suggested that life is a matter of wasting time. They suggest suicide, similarly to Quentin's fate in The Sound and the Fury, however, without executing it, they ultimately give in to their subjugation to time.
