Title: Thigh Compartments – Mind Map
I. Anterior Compartment
Main actions: Knee extension, Hip flexion
Nerve: Femoral nerve
Muscles:
II. Medial Compartment
Main action: Hip adduction
Nerve: Obturator nerve
Muscles:
III. Posterior Compartment
Main actions: Hip extension + knee flexion
Nerve: Tibial nerve (except short head of biceps → common fibular nerve)
Muscles:
Obturator Internus
Compartment: Deep gluteal region (lateral rotators)
Origin: Internal surface of obturator membrane + surrounding pelvic bone
Insertion: Medial surface of greater trochanter (via its tendon)
Nerve: Nerve to obturator internus (from sacral plexus)
Action: Lateral rotation of hip + abduction when hip is flexed + stabilization of hip joint
