Augustine became the 1° archbishop of Canterbury

Anglo Saxon>they were mostly illiterate & they used the runic alphabet
they scribed on stone or metals on books
they were farmers & fisherman who hunted seals & whales
they lived in wooden houses which they built them near to rivers & hills
Saxon had a sense of beauty, wore fine ornaments 6 enjoyed drinking

55-54 b.C.>under Julius Caesar>romans tried to conquer Britain, but real conquest was in the years 43-47 BC under Emperior Claudius

romans promoted the briting of several towns with pubblic baths, commercial activity, architectural works (paved roads), 1° London Bridge
409 BC>Emperior Honorius retrived his soldiers to defend Rome against Barbarian raiders>so the Romanised Celts were left alone against Anglo- Saxon(from Germany & Scandinavia)
