I never realized how much empathy depends on nonverbal communication. Making me think about how often interactions with providers are rushed and how even a small improvement in presence and body language can make the patient feel more heard when explaining issues. There I think that if this concept was stressed more often many providers would be aware of how their actions can be lacking empathy at times. - lecture
