Function 1: Protects the baby plant

PART 2: EMBRYO
What it is: Tiny baby plant
Contains: Root (radicle)
Contains: Shoot and leaves (plumule)
Function: Grows into new plant
Fun Fact: So tiny you need magnifying glass!
PART 3: ENDOSPERM
What it is: Food supply
Appearance: Soft, starchy, white/cream
Function 1: Feeds the embryo
Function 2: Gives energy to grow
Function 3: Works until plant makes own food
Fun Fact: You eat endosperm (rice, wheat)!
HOW THEY WORK TOGETHER
Step 1: Seed gets water/warmth
Step 2: Seed coat cracks open
Step 3: Embryo wakes up
Step 4: Endosperm feeds embryo
