The technological process
technology solves problems
Elements that we need to create mechanism and objects to satisfy our needs
Technical drawing
information technology
scientific and technological knowledge
Internet
Materials and their products
Work techniques
Economic factors
Stages in the technological process
infividual analysis and solution for the problem
Based on other examples and thinking about how were they solved, create an own solution and draw a simple plan for it
Planning
process sheet
calculation and quotation
working plans
Brainstorming and making a group decision
Each person present their proposal, then combining all of them into a single concept or picking just one of them, and rejecting the ones that doesn't solve the problems
Needs
when you have a problem and you have the need to solve it
Construction
We start building the support pieces that are going to be like a base to which we can join the other pieces more easily
Verification and evaluation
After a project is finished, it is checked to see if it works well and has positive social, economic, and environmental effects.
Essentials tools for technology
Phisicals tools
We need tools during the construction stage of a project:
to nail, to screw
to join, to fasten
to cut, to saw, to perforate
to measure, to draw, to mark
IT tools
We can use IT - information technology - at various stages of the proyect
Compuer graphics programs and tools which allow us to make simple drawing or detailed plans
presentaion programs to present the concept of a project
Word processors and spreadsheets to prepare text documents, quotations, tables...
Datebase programs to organise and manage largo quantities of data
Organisation and management of the workshop
Workspace
Its the place where students work on different tasks. The layout of the workshop and its contets is very important:
Tools
We can organise and identify them using colour codes, and we can keep them in numbered toolboxes
Materials
We keep them in small storerooms
Project
We keep them on sheves, organised by class and with a number for each group
Documentantion
There is an area of the workshop where we keep different types of documents related to projects:
books relating to specific topics; for example, engines
specialist magazines
general books, papers and documents
Work groups
Students work in groups
çeach student has a specific role and must assume a responsability. For example, coordinator or secretary, or being in carge of the tools, materials. cleaning or healthh and safety
The company, the market and the enviroment
Companies carry out similar procedures to those we follow in the classroom, but of course those activities involve much more work. So a company organises its work efficienty by coordinating the following activities:
