التكوين – FORM
النفي / Negative
Subject + wasn’t/weren’t + V-ing - Ahmed wasn’t reading a story.
Rodayna and Heba weren’t cooking lunch.
السؤال بهل / Yes/No Q.
Was/Were + Subject + V-ing? - Was Ahmed reading a book?- Were you eating a cake?
الإثبات / Affirmative
Subject + was/were + V-ing - Ahmed was reading a story.- Rodayna and Heba were cooking lunch.
السؤال بأداة استفهام / Wh-, Q.
Ques word + was/were + Subj+ V-ing? - What was Ahmed reading?- Where were you playing all day yesterday?
المبني للمجهول / Passive
Object + was/were + being + P.P. - A story was being read by Ahmed.- Games were being played all day yesterday.- While the food was being cooked, it smelled nice.
USAGE -الاستـــخـــدام
Use 1: حدث كان مستمر في وقت معين بالماضي
He was studying at 8 pm.
Use 3: حدثان كانا في نفس الوقت
She was reading while he was writing.
Use 2: حدث طويل قطعه حدث قصير
I was cooking when the phone rang.
Use 4: وصف مشهد في الماضي
The birds were singing, and people were walking.
Use 5: للتعبير عن الغضب أو التذمر
He was always losing his keys!
