Valvular Heart Disease - Coggle Diagram
Valvular Heart Disease
-
-
-
-
-
Aetiology
- Calcific degenereative stenosis
-
- Congenital bicuspid aortic valve
-
-
Pathophysiology
-
-
- Increasing AS obstruction
- Increased LV systolic pressure
- LV hypertrophy
- +/- LV dilatation / failure - late effect
-
Signs
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
Severity of AS correlates better with the duration of the mumur than it's intensiy - longer mumur woth severe stenosis
-
-
-
Rheumatic Valve Disease
-
Path
Thickening of leaflet edges, thickening of commissures and fusion of the leaflets at the commissures - progressing to stenosis
Bicuspid Aortic Valve
-
Path
-
- Premature degeneration and calcification
- Occurs over several decades
- Usually progresses tos ognificant stenosis in th e5th and 6th decade
- Not all bicuspid valves get stenosis - may also leak
- May be associated with coarctation of aorta
