Metaphors
Helps u connect with what u already know to the New concepts u may be learning= Learn Faster
When you think of a metaphor for a concept, a pre-existing set of brain-links is activated. This older set of brain-links allows you to more easily think about the new concept using ideas you already understand.
just by thinking of a
good metaphor
, you’ve already started understanding aspects of the new concept! Metaphors help you to get key ideas faster.
Neural Reuse Theory
= A metaphor allows you to re-use an idea you have already learned to help you learn a new idea.
Recall
Bringing an idea back to mind
Actively recalling key ideas as u're learning
To understand sth
Retrieval practice
Flashcards

Handy
Metaphor: Attentional Octopus= produce sparks which help it to “speak” to neurons
lives in your
prefrontal cortex.
Helps u hold on information temporarily in ur working memory
Focus/ Concentrate
Long-Term Memory
Travel further on your mental pathways/ U can put a lot of stuff in it (in a locker than a school bag)
Spread out all over the brain
Brain Links
Simpler information= makes shorter brain links
More complex info= make longer ones
More complicated info= make longer & more complex brain links
Using pictures makes the info easier to be remembered
Change the paragraph or a fact into a
Picture
= easier to remember
If the picture involves movement = easier to memorize
Reactivity Series

= making probably a nonsense sentence, where each 1st letter of each word is the 1st letter of the words u wanna remember
Memory Palace Technique= make images/objects to describe parts of ur body for example/ Use a mental map of your home as a sort of
note pad to remember items on a list.
Rhymes
Take notes written by hands
Teach someone else
Relate it to personality or shape
