๐History
The Explorer: In 1855, the Scottish missionary and explorer Dr. David Livingstone was taken by local Makololo guides to view the Falls from a small island on the lip (now called Livingstone Island)
The Naming: Awestruck by the sight, Livingstone named the natural wonder Victoria Falls in honour of the reigning British monarch, Queen Victoria.
Today, the Falls are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and remain a massive draw for both its natural beauty and its wide array of adventure activities. UNESCO officially recognizes the site under both the name Mosi-oa-Tunya / Victoria Falls.
