Conditionals
third conditional
Use: unreal past — things that did not happen (regrets, hypothetical past)
Example: If she had studied, she would have passed the exam.
Form: If + past perfect, would have + past participle

first conditional
Use: real possible future situations, promises, warnings
Example: If it rains tomorrow, I will stay home.
Form: If + present simple, will + base verb
Time words / tips: tomorrow, next week, if / unless (If it doesn’t stop, we’ll leave.)
Signal words, short forms & extra tips

Negative & question forms: If you don’t call, I will go. / What would you do if…?
Signal words: if, unless, when, whenever, provided (that), as long as
zero conditional
Use: facts, general truths, science (always true)
Form: If + present simple, present simple
Example: If you heat water, it boils.
second Conditional
Use: unreal or unlikely present/future situations, dreams, advice
Example: If I won the lottery, I would travel the world.
Form: If + past simple, would + base verb
mixed conditional
Type B (present → past)
If + past simple, would have + past participle => present condition that changes past result
