Mitosis and Meiosis Comparisons
Meiosis produces four daughter cells but mitosis only produces 2
Meiosis produces genetically different daughter cells but mitosis produces daughter cells genetically identical to each other and to the parent cell
Meiosis produces haploid cells (one set of chromosomes) but mitosis produces diploid cells (2 sets of chromosomes)
Mitosis occurs in body cells but meiosis occurs only in germ cells

What are Cancer cells and how do they grow?

Cell Differentiation in plants (and animals)
Cell differentiation is important because it allows cells to become specialised for specific functions, enabling the organism to develop tissues and organs that carry out different roles efficiently.
Zone of Cell Division: Cells undergo rapid mitosis, producing new cells for growth
Zone of Cell Elongation: Newly formed cells increase in length and size, pushing the root tip further into the soil.
Zone of Differentiation: Cells become specialised into different types (e.g. zylem, phloem, root hair cell etc) to perform specific functions
