      - Lack of body fat or illness
      - Exposure to cold weather or cold water
    - - Enzymes work slower → metabolism slows
      - Muscles shiver continuously to generate heat
      - Vasoconstriction (blood vessels tighten) occurs to reduce heat loss
      - Heart rate + breathing slow down
      - Severe cases → confusion, unconsciousness

      - Hot environment
    - - If too severe → heat exhaustion, heat stroke
      - Can damage proteins and brain cells if temperature goes too high
      - Vasodilation (blood vessels widen) → heat carried to skin
