using data from the INfancia y Medio Ambiente (INMA) project to address these issues- looked at mothers in 4 diff regions first checked w/ interviews at 12 and 32 weeks of pregnancy if they had been using medication/ what medication they'd been using- women had to match certain criteria to participate eg region, over 16, having singular pregnancy, hadn't become pregnant with help of fertility treatment

Looking at relation between taking acetaminophen in pregnancy and neurological development in children between 1-5 -mainly looking at specific developments that may need medication/ other treatment facilities- need further investigation into more general neurodevelopment
other validity points obtaining data- used standardised Questionnaires used for looking at child health- other factors eg parental mental health looked at records- all done by trained psychologists
tested children against all developmental measures, using negative binomial re-gression models to account for over-dispersion of the data

Over 40% of mothers reported using acetaminophen. Prenatal acetaminophen exposure was associated with a greater number of autism spectrum symptoms in males and showed adverse effects on attention-related outcomes for both genders. These associations seem to be dependent on the frequency of exposure
